  4. Ok,This is serious business! Tonight is our last night in New England our friends Jackie and Steve's . I made at Jackie's request, yet another portabello lasagne with a bechamel sauce, however it was not the request of Steve, seeing that it's (only) the 2nd bottle of olive oil to be opened up since wed, that's practically a week , the bottle wasn't that big! I think after the entire lasagne was devoured, Steve thought it was pretty good! I even saw him smile more than once!

  5. Jackie here, Oh yes, DH (dear husband) Steve did love the lasanga! He doesn't ever get such extravagant food when I'm in the kitchen...Maggie is actually making dinner before she leaves! She won't even be here and I STILL get a gourmet dinner! Please return quickly Maggie, please?????

  6. I only have 3 hours left in Rehoboth Ma.with my friend Jackie and her family. Jackie and I have been inseperable, playing side by side...sort of.... Jackie working on her computer buying beautiful things from France all the while speaking in french! She has exquisite taste in her french treasures, acutually exquisite taste in everything except, sadly enough, coffee, I'll work on that next time!

  7. Our visit to New England was surperb in many ways, as was coming home to my family in Asheville NC. My husband John and our daughter Sophia are magnificent to cook for, they eat everything! Except Sophia, she doesn't like crab cakes, which is great, seeing that last time I checked lump crab meat was 35$ a pound!
Though after being with our friends Jackie and Steve , just planning , shopping, cooking for another very busy family is a slice of heaven! I need to be back at Bliss Farm Antiques, with Jackie at her computer ordering beautiful things for her business, while I take over the kitchen, I thank her for letting me take over , she just looks over and smiles!

  8. Being with you in your kitchen while you are preparing a meal is one of my favorite places on earth. You've taught me to savor food long before it is consumed by feasting on the visual image. You've taught me to delight in the 'magnificence' of nature's bounty. I will never forget the day you pulled out a 2 foot long stalk of brussel sprouts! Before that I had no idea how they grew.

  9. If I had a picture, one might be mortified, I was. I am not a baker, never want to be one and I'd be a horrible one. I made a cake for my husband John's birthday and our daughter Sophia decorated it in a really scary color red, ick , it was one of the uglist color cakes I have ever seen ,and tasted the same. The creative design by Sophia was lovely, but oooooh , all the other.....I'm grateful for living in Asheville where we can order exquisite cakes , exquisite anything, I will cook , shop , so anything when it comes to food. Just never have me bake!!!!Will get pictures out as soon as my camera is tended too! Keep in touch! Maggie

  10. O.K. so I still have not taken pictures, but I promise they will come! Last night I made the most delicious vegetable gratin. I sliced long slivers, a bit thicker than slivers, of japanese eggplants, yellow summer squash, and layered them in my beautiful all-clad braiser pan, drizzled all the veggies with olive oil, garlic and lots of fresh basil, and parmesean cheese, I then did another layer exactly the same , then ( it gets even better!) I sliced fresh large tomatoes in half and completly covered the top of all the veggies, more grated parmesean and olive oil and simply put in the oven at 375 degrees for 45 minutes or so! The cheese gets melty and somewhat browned and the rest becomes so wonderfully bubbly! A beautiful piece of salmon and a lovely glass of white wine, made life complete!!! Simple elegance! Bon Apetit! Cannot wait to cook this for clients!! Jackie, are you hungry yet? Maggie

  13. Think about this , I plan to be up at Bliss Farm Antiques the first week of Dec. Preparing yummy thinks for Jackie's open house. The thing I want to share with you , is what I do, organize your kitchen, help simplify your life in the kitchen whether you are a stay home Mum or Dad. Good food still needs to be put on the table, at least most nights! Soooooo,,,,,,,,, with that , I will be availablle for at least 1 maybe 2 clients for the time I am in New England, just check out my website aubergines andolives.com , ignore the recipes that need to be made for the summer, think about your December, I know ick, not now, but it'll creep up on us and always to our amazement it's here! Any questions , happy to answer, It's a love to help those who don't have the time or interest! Just ask Jackie at Bliss Farm Antiques! She does come first! Maggie
